Convention wrap 2025 and Hellforce: Marionette on Kickstarter!
Hey there fans and friends! Summer came and went pretty darn fast, and it was my first full summer up here in McKinleyville. Sunny days and high humidity were on tap for much of the June, July, and August months, and it was a perfect time to work on my other passion—gardening! A lot of Leslie’s English garden area got planted, including some nice bulbs that will be ready for next spring. Next summer, we hope to wrap that up and begin in earnest on the Japanese garden section. I promise to have picture to go along with the hort report next time!
Silver Age (July) and Ohana Con (October)
For the third time, I attended Silver Age Comic Con organized by the fine folks at Colossus Girl Entertainment. They are always so nice and accommodating—and this year was truly exceptional. When Bez Krila and I entered into the Reno-Sparkes Convention Center to find our tables, we were right across from the special guest tables (what?!?). These are premium spots to be sure. That practically guaranteed a lot of foot traffic, and sure enough it did! We both met a lot of people—made some new fans and even had a couple of returning ones—even the young man who bought his first comic from me!
Overall, the weekend was amazing as usual, and we both look forward to going back next year. And that brings us to a new convention I’d never been to—Ohana Con! This group has conventions throughout Northern California, so I was excited they come all the way up here. The locals are pretty stoked as well as ya gotta head north to Oregon or west to Chico to get your comic and anime convention fix. To me, it was an intimate setting with big convention vibes. It really gave me a chance to get to know the fans and readers of the local area. If you stopped by, it was great to meet you, and hopefully you’re enjoying the books!
Glad to meet each and everyone of you at Ohana Con 2025!
I was just having a conversation with my publisher Jason Dube about how each con—like each Kickstarter—is different. You never know what items attendees gravitate to. Two top sellers from the weekend con were the Dr Dream pin set and the Dr Dream: The Collection tradeback, the latter of which I sold out! Well, next year, not only will I have new books, but I’ll also have a new collectible pin for next year’s con.
Hellforce: Marionette is live!
On October 3rd, during Jason Dube’s Friday Live Draw, we launched the Hellforce: Marionette campaign! For those who need a refresher, this is a limited series featuring Alice from Dr Dream and the Shadow Hunters from Jason’s long running series of the same name. Our story opens with Shadow Hunters taking a much needed break in Lake Tahoe and are planning on attending Alice’s concert at Harvey’s Outdoor Stage. What they didn’t plan on was the emergence of the demon Marionette, who plans to capture the Shadow Hunters and deliver them to her queen, Lylith.

If you’re into horror comics with a meta-human vs demon knock-down, drag-out, then this comic is for you! So far we’ve got 33 backers, and we’re less than $400 away from 2k funded and unlocking a third stretch reward for physical backers. There’s a lot of great goodies to add on to the book, so be sure to check it out and spread the word as there’s *only* 11 days left for the campaign!

I was going to include a bit on independent media, but I think I’ll save that for next time! Thanks again for reading and following!
All the best,
