New books, new appearances, new everything!

Wow! Didn't realize this was my first posting of the year! So much going on and so much that has happened.

First, is my first con of the seas was awesome! My fellow Scattered crew wasn’t lying when they said Vaca Con was awesome, and they were right. This is the first con they’ve hosted in a couple of years (for obvious reasons) and to be honest, I was a bit worried with the layout. Lots of artists and creator crammed together in front and back rows with a thin space between—eek! Not to worry. I just pulled my table out a bit and if I was too far out into the walkway, they’d tell me. No one ever did, so… My fellow creator Alberto Melendez did much the same. It was great having him there along with my daughter Talia sketching and just chilling.

Lots of locals were out, has some great conversations, met lots of new people, made some new fans and overall, it was a great experience! One particular business I’d like to plug is Comic Cove out of Sacramento. Daniel and Arin have been trying to get a brick-and-mortar presence in Sacramento for sometime, and it looks like they’ll be closing in on a place near Del Paso Heights. They have a great selection of comics, toys, games, and other collectibles. Give them a look and visit when they throw open the doors of their physical location!

I’m always amazed at the talented people in my life. Recently, Scattered artist and creator Evan Quiring (of the Lucha Mystery and Murder City Devil series) drew a fantastic variant cover for Marion Maxx. What could be better, right? Not to be out done, Dionne Waterman did a cosplay version of Marion Maxx—the first ever cosplay of any of my characters! Both of these variants will be available for an upcoming campaign this spring and will not be available in stores! Yer gonna want these books, so stay tuned!

Dr. Dream #3 is coming along nicely. We’re on page 8, and I’m hoping we can get books out by my next convention which is Silver Age Comic Con in Reno this June. This issue brings a bit of a departure as there’s a definite message that we can all relate to. As much as Blank showed how unabated corporate control can ruin a society, this issue of Dr. Dream will explore how we have to take care of our media intake. In short, less media, more meeting. Each other that is…

That it for nw. Keep your eyes peeled for the Marion Maxx variant campaign and for my next con in Reno!
