Of comics, campaigns, and commitment

Hi everyone! I should really update this more often. Way too many major events happen in my life, and I can never quite keep up with my own blog. Maybe that’s the reason: too many major things. Welp, we got some catchin’ up to do…

First, in just a few weeks, I’ll be at Silver Age Comic Con in Reno July 8th. This will probably be my one con of the year, so if you’re up that way, you should stop by. There’s going to be a lot of guests and vendors, so click on the link and check it out!

Silver Age Comic Con

I’m hopeful my daughter Talia will be able to finish her art series and have prints made in time for the convention!

Second item is campaigns! Let’s start with my friend and fellow creator James Burton who has his fifth Damage, Inc book ready for its debut. This time, the group finds themselves battling a huge interdimensional spider and a really annoying mummy. James’s work continues to amaze me, and if you’re new to the series, you’ll be able to pick up the previous books as well. Here’s the link so you can be notified when the campaign goes live!

For years, I was asked if my comic book Blank was ever going to be publish as it was intended—in book form. Well, five years after the best selling comic book made its debut, it’s finally here: Blank Redux. The novella will be presented in two forms: one with the narrative and one we’ll call The Art Edition, which includes creations from me and drawings from Noel Serrato and Jason Dube. I’m putting the finishing touches on the Kickstarter campaign and will share the link as soon as it’s ready.

Finally, on this day in 1998, on a nice summer day in Colfax, California, Leslie and I were married. Yeah, that’s 25 years ago. In some ways that’s hard to believe, but in others—that’s just about right. Good marriages are like good stories—they’re deep, complex, full of emotions—and you can’t put them down. With Diego starting college and Talia starting high school, the story just keeps on going. Let’s hope it never ends! Here’s to 25 more…
